AT&T Galaxy S 4 KitKat update slated to begin rolling out tomorrow [UPDATED]

Sprint got the Galaxy S 4 Android 4.4 update party started earlier this month, and then both the U.S. Cellular and international versions of the S 4 joined in on the KitKat action around a week later. Now it looks like AT&T's Galaxy S 4 will be the next guest to join the update shindig.

AT&T has updated its Galaxy S 4 support page with information on its KitKat rollout, revealing that the update will begin pushing out to users tomorrow, Feb. 26. Along with a bump up to Android 4.4, AT&T says that GS4 owners will receive "multiple improvements" to their device. Most of the changes named by AT&T appear to have been pasted in from the AT&T S 4's Android 4.3 update, but we've seen other Galaxy S 4 models receive goodies like white status bar icons, a lock screen camera shortcut, lock screen album art and music controls and more.

This new update is a beefy one that could weigh anywhere between 412MB and 842MB, depending on which version of Android the AT&T Galaxy S 4 is prior to installing this new update. Exactly when you AT&T GS4 folk will be able to do that tomorrow remains to be seen, but anyone that doesn't feel like waiting for AT&T's push to begin can check for the update manually by hopping onto a Wi-Fi network and heading into Settinngs > More > About device > Software update > Check for updates. If you're the patient type, just keep it locked to PhoneDog and I'll give you a shout once the update begins making its way to users.

UPDATE: AT&T has officially announced the Galaxy S 4's Android 4.4 update. The big blue carrier says that GS4 owners can expect to find the following goodies on their handset post-installation:

  • Improved user interface with Android 4.4 KitKat: The latest version of Android includes enhancements such as restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, color emoji support, improved closed captioning support, stronger security, and smarter power use.
  • Phone dialer app: The phone app now includes the ability to look up contacts directly from the dial pad, see and tap frequent contacts, and search corporate directories easily.
  • Focus and exposure: The “touch to focus” option has been enhanced with a new circular on-screen control that can be dragged by your finger around the viewfinder to adjust a photo’s focus and exposure.
  • Gallery app: New photo editing options are now available in the Gallery app including new filter effects, draw on your photos, advanced cropping, and adjustments for color, exposure, contrast and more.

Once again, you AT&T Galaxy S 4 owners can manually check for this update by going into Settings > More > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates.
