The Windows Phone 8.1 leaks have been coming hard and fast lately, giving us early information about new features like its on-screen navigation buttons and refreshed camera app ahead of the update's April debut. Today the flow of WP8.1 leaks continues with a brief video that purportedly shows the new Action Center notification panel in action.
Shared by UnleashThePhones, the 42-second clip shows the Action Center being accessed with a swipe down from the top of the display, just like in Android, iOS and others. Diving into the Settings menu allows the user to customize which four toggles show up in the "quick actions" portion of Action Center. Some of the choices include Bluetooth, Camera, Internet Sharing, Project My Screen and Rotation Lock.
Also included in the Settings section for Action Center is a toggle for displaying notifications when the device is locked as well as individual app notification controls. Selecting a specific app allows the user to select whether or not notification banners are shown, set an alert sound and completely turn off notifications for that particular app.
Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to be shown off at Microsoft's Build developer conference in early April. The update is expected to bring a multitude of new features, including this Action Center notification panel, a personal assistant known as "Cortana," on-screen navigation buttons and separate volume settings for ringer and media playback. The update may just be a small version number jump from Windows Phone 8, but should all of these rumored features make the cut into the final version of the update, Windows Phone 8.1 will be a pretty big deal for Microsoft's mobile platform.
