Sony D6503 'Sirius' caught on camera next to Xperia Z, Z1 siblings

Just a day after we got a peek at Sony's custom KitKat overlay running on the D6503 "Sirius," some new images of the phone's hardware have leaked out.

Posted to Chinese forum Digi-Wo, one photo shows the Sony Sirius in both black and white versions, while a second pits the unannounced device up against its Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z siblings. The Sirius features an Omnibalance design that's similar to previous Sony flagships, complete with a dedicated camera button and power key along its right side. Compared to the Z and Z1, the Sirius appears to be a bit taller, which isn't too surprising since its rumored to have a larger display than those two models (5.2 inches versus 5 inches).

Along with its 5.2-inch display, the Sirius is rumored to be coming to market with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera. If those specs hold true, the Sirius won't be a huge upgrade over the Xperia Z1, but its slightly larger screen and added RAM should still make for a respectable flagship smartphone. The good news is that we may not have to wait long to see how the Sirius performs in person, because the source of these images claims that Sony is planning to launch the device in April. Perhaps a trip to Barcelona is in this device's immediate future?
