Nokia Lumia Icon finally hitting Verizon on Feb. 20 with 5-inch 1080p display, $199.99 price tag

After months of leaks and rumors, the Nokia Lumia Icon has finally been given the official introduction that we've been waiting for.

The Verizon-bound Windows Phone 8 device is set to launch in black and white color options on Feb. 20 for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Verizon customers that want to guarantee themselves a unit after enduring the months of teases can do just that by pre-ordering a unit at a Microsoft Store. Anyone that picks up a Lumia Icon from Microsoft before March 16 will also receive a free wireless charger.

So what kind of specs does Nokia and Verizon's new flagship Windows Phone pack? Up front is a 5-inch 1080p OLED display with Sunlight Readability Enhancement and supersensitive capacitive touchscreen tech as well as 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Meanwhile, the Lumia Icon's backside houses a 20-megapixel PureView camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a dual-LED flash. Rounding out the features on the outside of the Lumia Icon's aluminum frame is a set of four microphones and Nokia Rich Recording for high-quality audio capture.

Diving inside of the Lumia Icon's frame, we're greeted by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 2420mAh battery that's powering the whole package. Wireless connectivity options include 700MHz, band 13 and band 4 LTE and the usual Verizon-flavored CDMA/EVDO support. The Lumia Icon also includes 850/900/1900/2100MHz UMTS connectivity for roaming around the globe.

The Nokia Lumia Icon has been floating around the rumor mill since it first appeared as the Lumia 929 back in late September 2013, so it's pretty exciting to finally see this Windows Phone 8-powered handset make its official debut. The last Windows Phone device to launch on Verizon was actually the Lumia Icon's predecessor, the Lumia 928, which arrived way back in May 2013. Because of that, I'm betting that Windows Phone fans on Verizon are pretty thrilled with today's news as well. To make the day even better for you Big Red Windows Phone lovers, I've embedded PhoneDog's Lumia Icon unboxing video below to keep you entertained until Feb. 20 rolls around.

Now that it's finally, really official, are any of you planning on picking up a Nokia Lumia Icon?
