Moto G image and spec details purportedly leak out

Remember that "Moto G" name that briefly appeared on Motorola's website earlier this week? There weren't many details about the device available at the time, but it didn't take long for the wall protecting the Moto G's details to spring a leak.

Prolific product leaker @evleaks has sent out a tweet this afternoon with what he claims are details on the Moto G. Up front is said to be a 4.7-inch 720p display, and around on the back of the phone lives an 8-megapixel camera. Diving inside of the G's shell, we're told to expect a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 8GB or 16GB of internal storage and a 1950mAh battery that's made by LG. Finally, it's said that when Motorola launches the Moto G, the device will be offered for the low price of free on contract.

Most of these specs are a slight step down from what's found on the Moto X, meaning that if today's leak holds true, the Moto G could be the low-cost Moto X family member teased by Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside back in August. While it's no Nexus 5, this purported Moto G sounds like a respectable Android smartphone, especially if it is indeed sold for free on contract.

Now that we've finally got some specs and an image, the latter of which appears to line up with previously-leaked shots of the Motorola DVX, the big piece of the Moto G puzzle that we're missing is its launch date. Hopefully the aforementioned website slip-up is an indication that the phone's introduction isn't far off.
