Apple selling iPhone 5 at $100 discount in its stores

Been thinking about picking up a new iPhone, but the 5s and 5c just aren't doing it for you? If that's the case, you may want to hit up your local Apple Store in the near future.

iLounge and Macworld have confirmed that Apple is now selling the iPhone 5 in its stores at a $100 discount. That means that the 16GB model is now available for $99 on contract, while the 32GB and 64GB flavors are priced at $199 and $299, respectively. Commitment-phobes can get in on the price cut fun too, as Apple is also offering the 16GB/32GB/64GB iPhone 5 models for $549/$649/$749 with no contract.

Apple announced yesterday that it will discontinue the iPhone 5 with the launch of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, meaning that this sale is the last chance that consumers will have to snag a new iPhone 5 direct from Apple. This new iPhone 5 pricing matches that of the iPhone 5c (minus the 64GB model, which isn't available with the 5c), just like the two devices share a fairly similar spec sheet. The big differences is that the iPhone 5 is made of aluminum and comes in a black color option, while the iPhone 5c is made of polycarbonate and only sold in bright colors.

It may seem kind of silly to buy a discontinued device just before its predecessors are released, but if you think that you'd prefer the aluminum frame of the iPhone 5 over the plastic iPhone 5c, then this is a deal that's worth considering. The discount will be offered until the new iPhones officially go on sale on Sept. 20.
