Verizon's 4G LTE network activated in six more cities, now available in 497 markets

After covering its 400th market with 4G LTE connectivity in late 2012, Verizon today announced that it's very close to hitting another LTE milestone. The big red carrier says that its LTE service is now live in an additional six locations, which brings its total number of LTE-covered markets up to 497. Here's the new and expanded LTE coverage that Verizon has recently activated:

New markets

  • Durango, Colo.
  • Corbin and Madisonville, Ky.
  • Adrian and Mount Pleasant, Mich.
  • Marietta, Ohio

Expanded markets

  • Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Sioux counties in northwestern Iowa

Verizon first flipped the switch on its LTE network in December 2010. Fast-forward to May 2013 and Verizon is now about to light up its 500th LTE locale, which is a pretty impressive stat that's sure to please its customers. It's not yet clear when Verizon will actually hit this next LTE milestone or which city will get to be lucky market number 500, but I'm sure it won't be long before we find out. Stay tuned.
