This has been a big year for prepaid services so far, with three of the four major U.S. carriers introducing either new prepaid brands or plans in recent months. Now a new rumor has claimed that the final big operator, AT&T, will soon be getting in on the fun with the launch of its own new prepaid offering dubbed "All In One." Sources speaking to FierceWireless claim that AT&T is planning to launch the new prepaid brand on June 15, with tests in Florida and Texas tipped to be kicking off in May.
The All In One service will reportedly include a $35 tier for feature phones that includes unlimited talk and text as well as an unknown allotment of data. Meanwhile, smartphone users will allegedly be able to choose between $50 and $70 plan options that include unlimited talk and text as well as 2GB or 5GB of HSPA data. After using up their allotment, it's expected that users will have their data speeds slowed for the remainder of that cycle.
It's worth noting that AT&T already offers prepaid service through its GoPhone brand. That service currently offers $25 and $50 feature phone plans as well as a $65 option for smartphones. There's no word yet on whether the All In One and GoPhone brands will coexist or if the new All In One offering will replace GoPhone.
Just as with most leaked and rumored information, nothing about these plans is official until the folks in blue make 'em so. The sources of today's report caution that the finer details of the plans could change before they actually launch. With tests slated to kick off sometime this month, though, it may not be long before we start to learn more about AT&T's All In One offerings. As I noted before, several other major carriers have rolled out new prepaid plans in recent months, so it'll be interesting to see exactly what AT&T brings to the prepaid table with All In One.
