LG says Optimus G sequel coming in Q3 2013, will be 'something different and something unique'

LG has been focusing quite a bit on its 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro lately, touting strong sales of the device in Korea and announcing a Value Pack update for it as well. That doesn't mean that LG is abandoning its non-Pro Optimus G line, though. Won Kim, LG's mobile marketing chief, has revealed to Engadget that the next Optimus G is slated to be announced in Q3 2013. Details on the device are still light, but the LG exec teased that the phone will be "something different and something unique" and that it'll likely feature a screen that's around five inches in size.

The original Optimus G was first introduced in August 2012, and so it's no surprise to hear that LG intends to follow the yearly update cycle that we've seen so much of in mobile lately and debut an Optimus G successor in Q3 2012. The fact that the device's screen won't go over the 5-inch mark is sure to please folks that aren't into the whole phone/tablet hybrid category, and considering what we've seen from other flagships so far this year, I wouldn't be surprised if one upgrade that the next Optimus G's display does receive is a bump up to a 1920x1080 resolution. What other features do you think LG should include in its next Optimus G handset?
