Interested in moving into Facebook Home a tad early to see what the new app is all about? You may be able to do so this morning. A pre-release version of Facebook Home has been leaked by MoDaCo and is now available to install on select devices. The app, which has been taken from a pre-release HTC First ROM, works on devices with a maximum screen resolution of 1280x768 and requires that users uninstall the current Facebook for Android app if they've already downloaded it. While Facebook has said that Home will only officially support a handful of phones at launch, it sounds like this leaked app can be used with other hardware, including Nexus devices.
While the emergence of this early Facebook Home APK will let any interested Android folks see exactly what Zuckerberg and Co. were going on about last week, there is one little bit of bad news. Chat Heads, a feature of the app that allows users to keep all of their ongoing conversations on-screen, doesn't seem to be working in this leaked version of Home. That's kind of a bummer considering that Chat Heads is one of the main features of Facebook Home, but I suppose that that's just a trade-off for getting access to the app early and on unsupported hardware. Facebook Home is officially set to launch on the Google Play Store on April 12, but anyone interested in trying it out before then can find all of the necessary downloads at the link below.
