Less than two weeks after rolling out an update for the Gmail app on Android, Google has pushed out a new update for the iOS flavor of the Gmail app. Today Google released version 2.1 of the Gmail app for iOS, complete with the ability to swipe left or right while in a message to move between different messages without having to back out to the inbox. Also packed into the v2.1 Gmail update is the ability to take action on multiple messages at once, as well as unspecified performance improvements and bug fixes.
This new v2.1 update for the iOS Gmail app may not contain any earth-shattering changes, but the ability to swipe between messages ought to make getting around in the app quite a bit easier. One of the main features that the app is still missing is a unified inbox, meaning that users with multiple accounts still need to slide the main panel of the app over to the right and then tap a drop-down menu to change accounts. Still, today's update is a nice one for iOS Gmail users, and anyone using it as their main mail app will want to snag it from the App Store right away.
