Facebook intros News Feed redesign, rolling out to iOS and Android apps soon

Facebook today took the wraps off of a brand new version of its News Feed, which the social network describes as being "inspired by mobile." The new News Feed will display larger photos and videos than the News Feed of old, and users will also be able to see more information from links, maps and events that are posted to their feed. The sidebars of the News Feed have also gotten a makeover, with the left-hand menu remaining accessible wherever a user might go on Facebook. In addition to the new News Feed, Facebook will be rolling out new feeds that can help users to find the specific content that they're looking for, with options for All Friends, Photos, Music and Following feeds coming.

Facebook says that the new News Feed will be rolling out to its full website and mobile page in the coming weeks. Users that are interested in checking it out as soon as possible can sign up for the waiting list. Since Facebook's goal is to have a consistent look and feel for its News Feed across the web, tablets and mobile, Facebook's mobile apps will also be getting the redesign. The iPhone and iPad apps expected to be updated sometime in the coming weeks, and an update for the Android app is slated to arrive "soon after."

The new Facebook News Feed looks much cleaner than previous design, and it shows that mobile is continuing to have an influence on what the social network does. We've seen steady improvements to the Facebook apps in recent years, and now Facebook has opted to take an inspiration from mobile design and bring it to its full-on website, which will then trickle down to the mobile web and its official apps. How many of you use Facebook on a regular basis? If so, how do you usually access it (web, mobile web, app)?
