Remember those screenshots from earlier this morning that showed new "Smart pause" and "Smart scroll" features in a version of Android 4.2.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S III? Turns out that that's not the only possible Galaxy S leak that we're getting today, as GSM Israel has shared a handful of screenshots that it says are from a U.S. version of the Galaxy S IV. While the original report doesn't say exactly which variant this is, the "4G" indicator up in the status bar suggests that this is an AT&T-flavored unit.
The screenshots show a version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI that seems to be slightly tweaked from the flavor that we've grow accustomed to on the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II, with a UI looks to be a tad lighter. We can also see that the status bar on the home screen is transparent (and for some reason it also looks to be slightly larger than the status bar in the other shots). An image of the device's Settings menu shows entries for the new "Smart scroll" and "Smart pause" features that were outed in a leak from earlier today, complete with the exact same descriptions.
This new leak also contains images from an app that purportedly provides details on the hardware of the Galaxy S IV. These screenshots suggest that it'll feature a 1920x1080 display that measures around 5 inches in size, which wouldn't be a surprise, as well as a quad-core processor. Other features that are reportedly coming to the Galaxy S IV include a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see most of the features named in today's leaks make the cut into the Galaxy S IV. As I've noted previously, we've heard that Samsung is planning to focus on new features with the device, and the "Smart scrolling" and "Smart pause" certainly sound like things that Sammy would introduce to expand upon its "Smart screen" offerings. The list of hardware features also sound reasonable, as several recent high-end Android phones (like the HTC One and DROID DNA) are packing 1080p screens, 2GB RAM and quad-core CPUs. Still, as with most leaks, it'd probably be wise to take these details with a grain or two of salt. Samsung is planning to officially introduce the Galaxy S IV on March 14, and you can bet that we'll be bringing you all of the news on both the hardware and software of the new handset as it happens.
