Sony has already named several Android-powered Xperia handsets that will be updated to Jelly Bean earlier this year, and this morning the company elaborated on its rollout plans. The first devices to be treated to Android 4.1 will be the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V, which are expected to be updated in February and March. The Xperia P, Xperia J and Xperia go will be next in line, with updates planned for the end of March, and the Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion and Xperia acro S will all be bumped up "in the subsequent weeks." Sony also revealed today that the Xperia U, Xperia miro, Xperia tipo, and Xperia sola will not be updated beyond Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is definitely a bit of a bummer.
While the first Xperia-flavored Jelly Bean updates are still a couple of months out, the good news for owners of these devices is that they've finally got a window of time to look forward to. It's worth noting that, as is usually the case with smartphone software updates, actual availability will vary by carrier and market. In case any owners of Jelly Bean-upgradeable devices needed another reason to be excited about their impending update, Sony teased today that it's excited about the "Sony Xperia Jelly Bean features and functionality," promising to share more details on the update in 2013.
