A couple of months after a U.S. International Trade Commission judge ruled that Apple did not violate Samsung patents in one of the many legal battles between the two companies, Reuters notes that the ITC today confirmed that it will review the judge's decision. The original preliminary ruling found that Apple had not violated four Samsung-held patents with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A final decision is expected to be handed down by the ITC in January.
The original complaint from Samsung was filed with the ITC in mid-2011, and the preliminary ruling in this case was issued in September 2012. The full commission that's reviewing this decision has the power to overturn it, but as I mentioned before, we'll likely have to wait until the calendar flips over to 2013 before we learn the final ruling on this matter. We won't have to wait that long for more Apple-Samsung news, though, as the two firms have many other legal tiffs going on around the globe, including a December hearing that's related to Apple's trial victory from back in August. Apple and HTC may have recently reached a patent settlement, but it looks like Apple and Samsung will be keeping us busy for a while.
