T-Mobile's 1900MHz HSPA+ network activated in a trio of new markets

Today is turning out to be pretty good for T-Mobile customers. After making the Ceramic Black HTC One S available online earlier this morning, T-Mobile has announced that its refarmed 1900MHz HSPA+ network is now available in three new metro areas. Those markets include Baltimore, Md., Houston, Texas, and Washington D.C. The new coverage will allow customers with devices that support the 1900MHz band for HSPA connectivity, including unlocked iPhones, to access T-Mobile's faster network rather than staying stuck on the slower EDGE network. Here's where T-Mobile says customers can expect to see faster speeds on unlocked devices as well as enhanced voice and data coverage:

  • Baltimore: Glen Burnie and Towson, MD
  • Houston: Cypress, Jersey Village, Humble, Kingwood, and The Woodlands.
  • Washington D.C.: Alexandria, VA; Arlington, VA; Chevy Chase, MD; Falls Church, VA; Laurel, MD; McLean, VA; and Silver Spring, MD.

Today's expansion brings T-Mobile's list of markets with access to its refarmed 1900MHz HSPA+ network up to five, as Kansas City and Las Vegas also have the service. T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray also says that his carrier is continuing work on its network in cities like Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, the New York metro area, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle, explaining that customers in parts of those markets are also hopping onto T-Mobile's 1900MHz HSPA+ coverage. If you're a T-Mobile customer with an unlocked handset in one of these areas, you'll definitely want to keep an eye out for signs of HSPA+ service. Are any of you T-Mobile customers located in one of the three newly-lit 1900MHz HSPA+ markets?
