LG Optimus Elite maintenance update rolling out, brings support for Sprint Direct Connect Now

Remember earlier this week when we told you that the LG Optimus Elite would soon gain access to the new Sprint Direct Connect Now app and its push-to-talk functionality? Well it looks like Sprint wasn't kidding when it said that the support was coming soon, as the Optimus Elite is getting a new update today that enables access to that app. The update isn't a huge one, but it does also include LG's QuickMemo app and the Sprint Connections Optimizer, which will learn to automatically turn on or off network settings (like your Wi-Fi connection) and connect to specified Wi-Fi networks in order to help save battery life and reduce data usage. Sprint says that this new software began rolling out to Optimus Elites across the country yesterday, October 25, and is being pushed in stages. It's expected that all units will receive LS696ZVF within 10-21 days of its release. The good news for impatient Optimus Elite owners is that you can also check for it manually can grab their handset, dive into the Settings menu and locate the Update Firmware section. After all, who actually likes to sit around and wait for an update to come?
