Good news for anyone that drooled just a little bit upon hearing about the 1080p display on HTC's new J Butterfly, as a new report claims that a couple of other manufacturers will be joining in on the full HD fun next year. According to sources speaking to MK News, both LG and Samsung are planning to introduce smartphones with full HD screens in the first half of next year. Samsung will reportedly be tapping Samsung Display for full HD Super AMOLED displays, and it sounds like LG will be going the LCD route. The report also claims that Pantech may also bring a full HD smartphone to market early next year.
Most of the details on these full HD devices from LG and Samsung, including how many we might see infiltrate the U.S., are still up in the air. Still, the thought of seeing more phones with 1080p displays unveiled in the next eight months or so is sure to get some spec hounds all tingly inside. Now we just have to hope that they'll follow in the footsteps of the J Butterfly and come in a U.S.-friendly version. Are you interested in a smartphone with a full HD display?
