Back in mid-May, Samsung named four T-Mobile handsets that'd be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, one of which was the Galaxy S Blaze 4G. Fast-forward to October, and it looks like the Blaze 4G's ICS update is finally ready to be released. T-Mobile has updated its support page for the Blaze 4G with details on the new software, explaining that the update will be available starting October 3. The update will bump the Blaze 4G to Android 4.0.4/software version T769UVLH5. Along with the move to ICS, owners of the Blaze 4G can expect a Mobile Hotspot Icon location fix as well as an Add Email option fix. T-Mo's full changelog for the T769UVLH5 update is available at the bottom of this post.
So how can you Galaxy S Blaze 4G folk get updated to Ice Cream Sandwich once October 3 rolls around? You'll have to grab ye olde USB cable and fire up Samsung Kies, as T-Mobile says that the ICS update will only be available through Samsung's computer software. While that may not be quite as easy as an over the air update, when you consider that you're moving from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich and will gain access to goodies like the Chrome browser, the extra effort is probably worth it. Now Blaze 4G users just need to find something to pass the time until Wednesday.
