Expert Spotlight for the Official Smartphone Rankings

I've got a new list this week and it includes the newest device from Motorola, the Atrix HD. First up, the International versions of the Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC One X still top the charts because of their quad-core processor, large and gorgeous display, and beautiful hardware. The US versions of the Galaxy S III are the best options for you no matter which carrier you're on in the States. Even taking the power down to a dual-core Snapdragon S4 doesn't take much away from this device. Coming in at number four is the Atrix HD. I've listed it above the EVO 4G LTE because it has a better price (only $99 on contract), AT&T's LTE network is far more mature than Sprint's LTE network, and even though the display is smaller, it's not by much and this just means that you get a higher pixel density.

My top pick this week is the Samsung Galaxy SIII (US Version). After using this phone more and more I really appreciate the dual-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It provides a genuinely smooth user experience. My 2nd pick this week is the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX for Verizon. With the recent update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) paired with the 21 hours of estimated battery life, this phone has new look on life and is stil going strong. The new release of the Motorola Atrix HD has me curious about all the RAZR HD rumors out there, but I still think this phone makes for good competition. My third pick and personal favorite is the Galaxy Nexus LTE for Verizon and Sprint. I am waiting any day now for Android 4.1 Jellybean to grace my Nexus so I can experience the smoothness of Project Butter, but for now I can still enjoy 4.0 ICS. The Nexus has a great 4.7' screen with crisp and detailed resolution and with the stock Android OS, its swift and cunning. My fourth pick this week is the Galaxy Note for AT&T. I have already boasted in my past ratings about how much I like the concept of this device being a phone/tablet or 'phablet'. It really is a useful device and with the recent update to Android 4.0 (ICS), it improves on an already impressive device. My last pick is the Sony Xperia Ion for AT&T. I have only had my hands on this device a few times but the amount of time I have spent with the Ion has impressed me. I'll admit it being a new release with Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) in a world that is full of new Android 4.0 devices is a bit of a mystery to me, but I was impressed nonetheless with the HD screen (reminds me of my SOny BRAVIA TV), Sony's user interface and the camera (of what I used) was pretty nice. Plus, if you purchase the device at Best Buy, as an exclusive, you get Maroon 5's latest album Overexposed for FREE!

The best of the best, the Galaxy S III is not only model, but future-proof. And it's LTe speeds combined with looks makes it top notch.

Each and every One X is just as fantastic as the next. It is also a smartphone you'd notice while walking, and would be covered in the warmth of its 4G LTE radios.

Apple iPhone 4S. The Braun phone of the century. Beautiful, fast, and with the best apps, it can be hard to go wrong. Siri says so.

The DROID RAZR Maxx is Moto's best shot at having a top shot of a phone. And it gets very near that.

The Atrix HD is the best $100 Android 4.0 dual-core smartphone out there with 4G LTE data speeds. That's all there is to it.
