Verizon yesterday announced some details of its Galaxy S III launch plans, including pricing and a pre-order start date, but it failed to reveal just when the phone will be launching. Unsurprisingly, some leaked information has surfaced online to try and fill the void. According to an image sent to Android Central, pre-ordered Galaxy S IIIs will ship by July 9. The first ship date that actually came up was July 6, but that's reportedly already changed, with July 9 being the current target date.
In other Verizon Galaxy S III news, the big red carrier has confirmed to Phone Scoop that Samsung's handset will support roaming onto international 2G and 3G networks. Unfortunately, that functionality won't be available when the phone launches (whenever that happens), and will instead be enabled in a future software update.
Verizon recently confirmed several of its 4G LTE Android phones that'll be gaining global roaming capabilities in future software updates, so it's good to see that the Galaxy S III will be given the same treatment. It'd be nice if that feature was enabled out of the box, but hey, at least it's coming eventually. As for the rumored early July release, while it's certainly possible that that'll go down, it's also possible that we'll see things change again sometime before then. So maybe just use a pencil to circle the date on your calendar, and we'll be sure to let you know when something more concrete and pen-worthy comes up.
