Following rumors that Apple would be launching its own Maps application in iOS 6, purported images of the new app have surfaced online. According to a report from BGR, the new app features a refreshed UI that includes a new silver navigation bar. Users will be able to locate themselves using a button that floats in the lower left corner of the device's display, and there will also be button to switch 3D maps on and off after the mode has been enabled by peeling back the lower portion of the app like users can do in the current Maps app. Below you can check out a mockup of what BGR thinks that the Maps app may look like based on information gained from its source. So far Apple has relied on utilizing Google Maps data for its Maps application, but a report from earlier this month claimed that that'd be changing with iOS 6. Apple's new Maps app has been described as having a design similar to current Maps app, but with a "much cleaner, faster and more reliable experience." Considering how long Apple has been using Google Maps in the Maps app, it'll be interesting to see what the Cupertino firm can cook up for its own Maps app and how it'll perform compared to the Google Maps-ified version that iOS users are accustomed to. iOS 6 is expected to make its debut next month at WWDC, so it may not be long before we get our first official peek at Apple's new Maps app. Stay tuned.
