Nokia confirms magenta Lumia 900 is on the way

Earlier this month it was rumored that the Nokia Lumia 900 may soon come in a magenta hue to go along with the black, cyan and white models already available. Now it looks like those rumors were legit, as a listing for an HSPA+-flavored magenta Lumia 900 have made their way onto Finnish retailer Gigantti's website, complete with images that offer a tour around the device's body. And just in case that's not enough, a Nokia spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that the Lumia 900 will indeed be released in magenta. The spokesperson could offer up any details concerning when or where the magenta Lumia 900 may see the light of day, but Gigantti lists the device with a May delivery timeframe.

It's not a total surprise to hear that the Lumia 900 will be available in magenta considering that the similarly-styled Nokia N9 and Lumia 800 are also available in magenta, but it's good to get confirmation of the device's existence from Nokia. Of course, it's not yet a guarantee that we'll see a magenta 900 on AT&T here in the U.S. The aforementioned rumor from earlier this month did contain an image of an AT&T-branded magenta 900, though, and with Mother's Day falling on a Sunday (the day AT&T typically launches new phones), AT&T may see an opportunity to debut the magenta 900 and tie it into the holiday. Stay tuned for more.
