Had your eye on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 since they were made official earlier this year? If so, you'll be glad to hear that Samsung has finally shared U.S. launch and pricing details for its new pair of Galaxy Tabs. The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, which features a 1024x600 and 1GHz dual-core processor, will be made available on April 22nd with pricing set at $249.99 for the 8GB model. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will kick off April 12th. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, which packs a 1280x800 display and 1GHz dual-core CPU, will launch on May 13th for $399.99 for the 16GB model. Pre-sales will begin May 4th. Samsung also announced a pair of additions to its line of Galaxy Player Wi-Fi-only personal media players. First up is the Galaxy Player 3.6, which includes a 3.65-inch 480x320 touchscreen, 1GHz processor, 2-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras, microSD slot, 1,200mAh battery and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The 8GB Galaxy Player 3.6 is now available from Best Buy for $149.99.
The other model is the Galaxy Player 4.2, which, you guessed it, features a 4.2-inch display at a resolution of 800x480. Other specs packed into the Galaxy Player 4.2 include a 1GHz processor, 2-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras, 1,500mAh battery, microSD slot and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Expect the Galaxy Player 4.2 to hit May 13th with 8GB storage and a $199.99 price tag. Pre-orders will begin May 4th.
So there's Samsung's lineup of new Wi-Fi-enabled Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Tab 2s may not blow spec hounds out of the water with their features, but the pricing for the two devices seems decent, especially in the case of the Tab 2 7.0, which is just $50 more than the Kindle Fire. Both the Tab 2 7.0 and Tab 2 10.1 will also be packing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which is good to hear and should please anyone that's in the market for a new Android tablet.
