The HTC Trophy was the first Windows Phone to hit Verizon back in May of last year, and although Verizon has yet to put another handset with Microsoft's OS on its shelves, the carrier will soon be showing some love to the Trophy and its owners. Verizon has updated its support page for the Trophy to show that a software update will be "coming soon" to the device. The update is software version 2305.13.20402.605 and includes a handful of enhancements, including one to prevent the software keyboard from disappearing, which means we may be looking at the Windows Phone 8107 update. - Improved Voice Mail notifications when traveling outside the U.S.
- Enhanced Cellebrite contact transfer performance.
- Improvements in keyboard performance prevent keyboard from disappearing while typing.
- Device is enabled with the Wireless Alerting System.
- Improved device performance when downloading large software update files.
Email, Messaging & Web
- Original messages will be included when replying or forwarding an email via an Exchange 2003 server.
- Improvements in text messaging performance.
It's a bummer that we've yet to see a second Windows Phone hit Verizon, but at least Big Red is keeping its lone WP7 handset up to date. As for when another Windows Phone may hit Verizon, well, that much is still a mystery. The carrier has said that support for its LTE network is a "critical" feature that it wants to see before it'll throw more support behind Windows Phone, and the rumor mill has suggested that we may have to wait until the arrival of Windows Phone 8 Apollo later this year before the platform will appear on Verizon once again.
