To date we've only seen a single Windows Phone out of Sprint, but an FCC filing has revealed a new handset running Microsoft's mobile operating system that may be joining the Now Network. The unannounced Windows Phone is made by LG and goes by the model number LS831. There's nothing in the FCC filing that directly says that the LS831 is Sprint-bound, but the handset uses the Sprint-friendly 800MHz band, and one of the documents including in the filing is known as "Sprint Nextel Waiver." The FCC's external photographs of the device show that it's got a front-facing camera and a 5-megapixel camera on its backside.
Unfortunately for Windows Phone fans on Sprint, that's the extent of what anyone knows about this mysterious LG LS831 handset, and there's no word on when, or even if, the LS831 will see the light of Sprint's stores. Considering the fact that the HTC Arrive hit Sprint a little over a year ago and reports that have suggested that the carrier may be holding off on pushing out a new Windows Phone until Windows Phone 8's arrival, though, I'm sure that fans of Microsoft's platform are glad to hear anything about a new Sprint Windows Phone. We'll keep an eye out for more on this one and let you know what we find.
