HTC may produce PlayStation Certified devices in the second half of 2012

Good news for those of you that like to game on your smartphone: A new report claims that HTC will be one of the first companies outside of Sony to begin producing PlayStation Certified smartphones. Sources speaking to Pocket-lint claim that HTC will gain PlayStation Certification sometime in the second half of this year, which would give the PlayStation Certified HTC devices access to several PSOne games. There's no word yet on any of the particular HTC products that may be given PlayStation Certification.

So far we've only seen Sony/Sony Ericsson-made devices like the Xperia Play and Xperia S come to market the PlayStation Certified label, so it's interesting to hear that HTC may soon be pumping out its own PlayStation Certified products. If the rumor holds true, it could be another way for HTC to help its Android devices stand out from others on the market and gain attention from the gaming crowd that may not have otherwise bothered to check out to some of HTC's products.
