Today Acer helped to kick off CES 2012 with one of the first press conferences at the show, and the company started things off with a bang by showing off a new Iconia Tab with some pretty impressive specs. Acer teased the new tablet briefly, saying only that it features a quad-core processor and 1080p display before quickly making it disappear from the stage. Check out a shot of the mystery slate in the flesh below.
So what might this device be? We'll have to wait until Acer spills some more details before knowing for sure, but there's a chance that we could be looking at the Iconia Tab A700, which leaked out a couple of times at the tail end of last year. The rumor mill pegged the A700 as a quad-core Tegra 3 slab with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and another shooter around front. We'll keep an eye out for more information on this thing and pass along the details as we get them. Any of you think that Acer's new Iconia Tab could be your next tablet?
UPDATE: Looks like this is indeed the A700. The folks at The Verge managed to find the new Iconia Tab lounging around in Vegas and discovered that it's packing a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, as well as the aforementioned 1080p display. It's also got Bluetooth support, a microSD card slot, and an HDMI port. As far as release details go, the A700 is said to be landing sometime in the second quarter, but no other specific launch information is known just yet.
