Microsoft's "Where's my phone update?" page has been a go-to source of information for Windows Phone users interested in learning more about how far along in the rollout process updates are with their specific carriers. However, those users won't have that page to reference any longer, as Microsoft revealed today that it'll no longer be offering details on updates for individual countries, handsets and carriers on the "Where's my phone update?" page. There's no mention about why this change is being made, but the company did explain that the official Windows Phone website will now be the primary place for users to get information on updates.
In the same blog post, Microsoft said that it began to offer a new update to some Windows Phone users this week. The 8107 update contains fixes for things like an issue that would cause the on-screen keyboard to disappear while typing as well as a bug with Google mail syncing. Microsoft added that the update is available to all carriers that request it, but didn't mention any other release information.
The end of the "Where's my phone update?" page is a bit of a bummer for all of the Windows Phone folk out there. Not only was it a good way for interested customers to monitor the progress of an update with their specific carrier, but the ability to check up on the testing, scheduling and release process of updates isn't something that you often see.
