Last week U.S. Cellular announced that it would be adding the Huawei Ascend II to its Android lineup and that the handset would be available online sometime in the following week. It looks like that time is now, as the Ascend II is now available for purchase from U.S. Cellular's website. Pricing is set at free on contract (existing subscribers will need to send in a $100 mail-in rebate), or you can pick it up for $139.99 on a prepaid basis. Those of you that'd prefer to venture outdoors and pick up an Ascend II from your friendly neighborhood U.S. Cellular store will be able to do so early next month.
As I mentioned when U.S. Cellular's Ascend II was made official, the device isn't the most powerful thing you'll ever lay your hands on, but its low price and clean look should make it an attractive handset for folks that don't want to leave their wallet in tears after making a smartphone purchase.
