AT&T lighting up New York City with LTE "very soon"

AT&T is set to expand its 4G LTE network to four new markets on Sunday, November 6th, including Boston, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Athens, Ga. One major city that has yet to see any LTE love from AT&T, though, is New York City. That won't be the case for much longer, as AT&T announced today at the Mashable Media Summit that it's planning to launch LTE coverage in NYC "very soon." No other details were given.

So far AT&T's LTE network is live in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, and the carrier has said that it plans to expand its LTE coverage to 15 total markets by the end of 2011. The new cities going live this weekend along with NYC will bring AT&T up to 10 total markets, meaning it's got 5 more to launch before the year wraps up in order to meet its goal. Where in the U.S. AT&T's remaining 5 LTE markets is still up in the air, but as usual, you can bet we'll let you know as soon as we do.
