Sprint now pushing security update to HTC Android devices

If you happen to be the owner of an HTC device on Sprint, you may want to fire up ye olde software update right about now. Sprint just announced that it's now rolling out a security update to its HTC devices to address the security vulnerability that was discovered earlier this month. Notification of the update is being pushed in waves to users of the HTC EVO 4G, EVO 3D, EVO Shift 4G, EVO Design 4G, EVO View 4G, and Wildfire S. For those of you that'd rather not wait for the update to roll to your neck of the woods, it can be manually downloaded by going to Menu > Settings > System updates > HTC software update > Check Now.

Sprint says that it's worked closely with HTC since news of the vulnerability first came out, and it's good to see the carrier letting its users know of the fix and pushing it to all of the aforementioned devices simultaneously. Now a quick PSA: always be careful of what you're downloading. If something gives you a funny feeling, it's probably best to avoid it at least until you can check it out further. Ok! If you own an HTC device on Sprint, get to downloading.
