HTC Flyer to have its price cut to $299.99 at Best Buy starting October 1st

Just a couple of days ago Amazon introduced the $199.99 Kindle Fire, a 7-inch slate running Android, though you certainly wouldn't know that just by looking at it. If you're in the market for a 7-inch slate but would prefer something that features a version of Android that's a tad more traditional, Best Buy may have just the deal for you. The big-box retailer announced today that beginning October 1st, it's cutting the price of the HTC Flyer from $499.99 to $299.99 both in-store and online.

Want a Flyer spec refresher? This HTC-made slate features a 7-inch 1024x600 touchscreen, 1.5GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel shooter around front, 16GB storage, and Android 2.3 beneath the Sense UI. HTC has said that it's working on an update to Honeycomb for the Flyer, which we got a peek at earlier this month thanks to an RUU (Rom Upgrade Utility) leak. The question is, now that the Flyer's had its price slashed by $200, are you more interested in picking one up than you were yesterday despite the fact that it's no longer the new kid on the Android tablet block?
