Cellular South planning to rebrand itself next week?

It's time once again for us to put on our deerstalker detective hat and do our best Sherlock Holmes impression, because there's a mystery afoot. A new commercial (embedded below) was caught airing last night that talks up a "different" network that adapts to you and brings "apps, rewards, and stuff that's just right for you." That's pretty mysterious on its own, but at the end of the clip we're also treated to a "C" logo with the promise that something is coming on September 26th. Fast-forward to earlier today, and what seems to be an accompanying website that also mentions a wireless network and the date of September 26th was dug up at the URL "personalizedwireless.com."

So what might all this mean? According to a report out of Engadget, all of this hubbub has to do with regional carrier Cellular South. The site claims that Cellular South has been busy snapping up a number of smaller southern carriers and that these teasers pertain to a merger/rebranding that'll be revealed on September 26th. That theory is supported by a the news that Cellular South CEO Hu Meena is planning to make a "significant" announcement on the 26th as well as a statement from a CS spokesperson who says that the carrier will announce "a number of strategic changes" on that date.

Obviously there's still a lot up in the air here, like precisely how this new network will be "different" and what kinds of new plans it may offer (if any), but what fun would this mystery be if we got all the answers right away? More on this as we get it.
