Here's some good news to help you HTC Merge owners on U.S. Cellular get over the Wednesday hump: an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread is now available for your beloved handset. The new software is build number 3.05.573.1 and weighs in at 268.9MB. Besides getting a bump to Android 2.3.4, Merge owners can expect the update to bring an improved notification bar, a new flashlight app, 802.11n Wi-Fi support, and several other goodies.
Sound good? Windows users out there can get the update ball rolling right now by finding the download link and installation instructions here. Meanwhile, those of you out there with a Mac will have to make the trek to your local U.S. Cellular store to get a taste of piping hot Gingerbread. I'd say that that's a small price to pay for the chance to get some fresh air and an update to Android 2.3, though, wouldn't you?
