Purported iPhone 5 battery, camera, and audio jack flex cable images leak

Last year we saw Apple's new iPhone 4 leak out months before it made its official debut on stage with Steve Jobs. We've yet to see an iPhone 5 leak of the same magnitude — at least not yet — but today we've got something that should help to whet the appetites of those of you waiting for Apple's next handset: purported iPhone 5 parts. First up is a battery that's said to belong to the new iPhone, revealed by parts supplier TVC Mall as well as U.K. repair shop iPatchiPods. The battery you see above is marked "DVT_B3," indicating that it was a part of Apple's Device Verification Testing, the stage products enter before going into production. This alleged iPhone 5 battery features 3.7V and 5.3Whr, which is extremely similar to the iPhone 4 battery and its 3.7V and 5.25Whr power. Both batteries are said to be of similar size and shape.

Next up is a camera module that's said to belong to the iPhone 5. An exact megapixel count for the part isn't yet known, although the new iPhone is rumored to feature an 8-megapixel camera. You can see, however, that the camera flash is right next to the module itself. A previous report claimed that Apple was considering moving the camera flash to the side of the phone's rear opposite that of the actual camera.

The last part we have is an audio jack flex cable. Not much is known about this part except that it looks quite a bit different from its GSM and CDMA iPhone 4 counterparts.

There's not a lot else we can say about these purported parts outside of what you can take away from the photos. It's interesting to see that the iPhone 5 may well feature a battery similar to the one found in the iPhone 4, although many iOS users have reported satisfactory battery life with the current iPhone, so there's likely no reason for concern over the lack of an upgrade. Current rumors suggest that Apple is will finally launch its new smartphone in early October, so we're sure to see more leaks surrounding the device emerge in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
