HP TouchPad 4G earns $700 pre-order price tag at Amazon

AT&T still hasn't announced pricing or availability for its upcoming HP TouchPad 4G, but if you'd rather guarantee yourself one of the HSPA+-enabled slates rather than wait for trivial details like launch dates and on-contract cost, you can preorder your own TouchPad 4G right now from Amazon. The current asking price for AT&T's TouchPad is $699.99 without a contract, which is about $200 more than Amazon's currently asking for the Wi-Fi-only 32GB TouchPad. There's no mention of when Amazon will begin shipping the TouchPad 4G, but hey, at least you can rest soundly knowing that yours will be one of the first out of the shipping facilities.

Continuing with the TouchPad news, it seems that HP is currently offering up $50 in App Catalog credit to anyone that bought the device between July 1st and August 4th. If you fall into that group, an email from HP explaining how to get your credit should be materializing in your inbox sometime this week. The credit will be good through December 31st.

AT&T's TouchPad 4G may carry a bit of a premium compared to its Wi-Fi-only counterparts, but for those of you that want always-on connectivity or that little processor boost the extra cost could be worth it. Then again, if the idea of shelling out seven Benjamins for a tablet whose Wi-Fi version has been getting some deep discounts as of late doesn't appeal to you, perhaps holding out would be a better idea. For all we know, the model with a cellular radio could soon get a similar treatment.
