Well, well, well. What do we have here? The device you see above is the Samsung SPH-D710, which recently passed through the FCC with CDMA and WiMAX radios. Look familiar? Yes, the diagram up above bears more than a passing resemblance to Sprint's Galaxy S II, aka Galaxy Within. There's nothing in the documentation that straight-up calls this a Galaxy S II or Within, but all of the clues added together definitely make it seem as though this is that very device. One other quick note about the SPH-D710: it measures 5mm taller and 3mm wider than the unlocked Galaxy S II.
As usual, a handset earning FCC approval doesn't necessarily mean that its launch is right around the corner, but it is an important step in the pre-release process. Whether or not the Samsung Mobile president J.K. Shin had Sprint's Within in mind when he said that the Galaxy S II would hit the U.S. in August remains to be seen. You can bet that when we do learn more about Sprint's Galaxy S II, though, we'll let you know. Who's excited?!
