Sprint mail-in rebates look set to return on July 24th

Sprint customers have been enjoying a mail-in rebate-free existence for several months now, but it looks like the promotion is finally going to be coming to an end later this month. According to a document sent to our pals at SprintFeed, mail-in rebates will be making their return to Sprint on July 24th. The rebates will be a little different this time around, though, as Sprint will now begin issuing customers an American Express Rewards Card rather than paper checks like it's done in the past. The cards should arrive approximately eight weeks after the purchase and are good for up to six years, which is quite a bit longer than the 180 days that the old checks were good for. However, if the full amount on the card hasn't been used after six months, a $3 monthly fee will kick in. The good news is that the cards are good anywhere that American Express is accepted and can even be used to pay your Sprint bill. One final note: this new mail-in rebate program is only applicable to devices with a net promo price of $149.99 or below and will hand out $50 rebates.

It's kind of a bummer to see that mail-in rebates will soon be back at Sprint, but it sounds like this new method of handing out rebates is going to work out pretty well for both the carrier and its customers. Still, if a plastic American Express Rewards Card doesn't sound like something you want to deal with, you've got about nine more days to bask in the gratification that an instant rebate brings. The clock is ticking.
