iPhone to become eligible for AT&T's Mobile Insurance program on July 17th

Good news for everyone out there that frequently gets referred to as the affectionate name "Butterfingers": AT&T has announced that beginning on July 17th, all models of the iPhone will be eligible for its Mobile Insurance service. The service costs $4.99 per month along with a $50 or $125 deductible and protects a device against loss, theft, accidental damage (of the physical or liquid variety), and mechanical or electrical failure. Originally AT&T failed to offer insurance of any kind on the iPhone, but more recently it began offering insurance from an outside company on Apple's handsets for $11.99 per month with a $199 deductible, which is obviously a tad more than AT&T's own insurance plan.

Although the idea of getting insurance on a phone is a topic that many feel differently about, it's still good to see AT&T finally give iPhone owners the option of signing up for the same insurance that it offers to its other customers. What do you all think of getting insurance on your phone through a carrier or some other company? Do any of you have your device enrolled in an insurance program right now?
