Samsung's lawyers demand access to the iPhone 5 and iPad 3

Apple and Samsung have been trading blows in court for a little over a month now, with the most recent move coming last week when Samsung was ordered to give Apple access to its unreleased products in order to determine whether or not a early injunction needed to be filed. Last night Samsung made quite possibly the biggest move yet, filing a motion asking to see both the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3. Samsung feels that it should be able to see the next iPhone and iPad because they'll presumably be in the market at the same time as devices like the DROID Charge and Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Sammy wants to determine if there are any similarities so that it can get ready for any further legal action from Apple. Samsung has said that it'll agree to the same rules as in Apple's filing, meaning that only Sammy's lawyers will get to see the new iDevices (if the motion is granted), not anyone actually at the company.

Obviously this is a pretty big move from Samsung, although This is my next points out that the company's motion is based on a lot of assumptions, like the fact that Apple might decide to file a preliminary injunction sometime after it might launch a new iPhone and iPad. The site says that Samsung's actions may have been made in an attempt to gain some leverage in its negotiations with Apple because the talks have reportedly been stalled for some time. Whatever the cause, it'll be interesting to see what Sammy's move accomplishes, if anything, and where the whole situation goes from here. Stay tuned!
