HTC Bliss is an Android phone for Verizon that's targeted at women?

HTC has launched a number of Android phones in the past that came in a wide range of sizes and form factors, but today a report has emerged claiming that the Taiwanese firm is currently prepping a new, rather unique smartphone. According to the folks at This is my next, HTC is hard at work on an Android smartphone for Verizon that's directly targeted at women and is even testing the device with focus groups consisting of women in their 20s and 30s. The phone is allegedly codenamed Bliss and is described as a full-touch device that features a "calming" green color and looks like a mashup between the Desire S and Desire Z (up above is a mockup of what it could look like). Renders of the device show that it could sport shopping and calorie counting apps, and it's likely that the device will feature the Sense UI. There are even some special accessories in the works for the Bliss, which include a wireless charging dock with speakers, a "stylish" Bluetooth headset, and a "charm indicator" that can be attached to a bag and will alert you when there's a new notification, like a missed call.

It's important to keep in mind that the Bliss is still very much in testing, so it's entirely possible that it could end up an entirely different product when it's release, if that ever even happens. The idea of creating a phone squarely targeted at women could kind of interesting, although I'm not sure that it would be smart to alienate all of your potential male customers with one device. If you'll remember, at one point Verizon created a couple of ads targeting the Palm Pre Plus as a device for women, but the commercials didn't exactly sit well with some folks. What do you all think of the Bliss? Is it a good idea for HTC to create a phone designed for women?
