Motorola DROID Bionic cancelled, to be replaced by Targa? [UPDATED]

We haven't heard much about the DROID Bionic ever since it was announced back at CES, and today we may know why that is. According to Howard Forums user wnrussell, who's been the source of several accurate leaks in the past, the Bionic won't actually be coming to market. Instead, he says, it could be replaced by the Targa or some other similar device.

This news certainly comes as a surprise, especially since Verizon and Motorola went through all the trouble to announce the Bionic and show it off at CES. There's no mention of whether or not the Bionic's replacement will come to market in Q2, but considering that previous reports claimed that the Targa wouldn't be launching until sometime around Christmas 2011, I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.

UPDATE: The folks at Droid-Life have also heard that the Bionic may be getting the axe. However, another insider by the name of blackmanx is reporting that all of this cancelation news is nonsense and that the Bionic is, in fact, "well on track for the expected release date."
