Sony CEO confirms Honeycomb tablet coming before summer is up

There have been rumors flying lately that Sony may be planning to enter the Android tablet market soon, but now the company's intentions have been made clear. Sir Howard Stringer, CEO at Sony, has confirmed that we can expect a Honeycomb-powered slate from his company by the end of summer, and that it'll even be going on sale here in the U.S. before anywhere else. The exec didn't give up any more details about the device, so it's not clear whether the tablet that Stringer was talking about was the S1, the clamshell S2, or something else entirely.

Just about every major electronics manufacturer around is jumping into the Android tablet game, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Sony wants to try and take a piece of the pie, as well. We've heard that the S1 tablet could be coming in September, so it's probably a good thing that the device has a pretty unique design since it'll likely be arriving to the market later than its many of its competitors. Does a Sony-branded tablet interest any of you or do you already have your heart set on another company's product?
