Apple has famously never allowed Flash on iOS and, although there are ways to get around this restriction, there are still some users hoping for an official way to view Flash content on an iOS device. It doesn't look like Apple will be changing its stance on Flash any time soon, but Adobe is busy creating a work-around of sorts. Today the company released an experimental tech called "Wallaby" which should be able to convert some Flash content, like animations, into HTML, which is compatible with iOS. Adobe is quick to point out that not all Flash files can be converted using Wallaby, and that initially the tool is meant simply to allow advertisers to convert their Flash ads into HTML that can be read on non-Flash compatible products.
It's kind of a bummer that Wallaby will mostly be used for converting advertisements as I'm sure the iOS faithful would prefer to see videos and games get put through the conversion process, but it's still a pretty interesting little tool, and I'm sure advertisers will be glad to know that their banners will be viewable by an entire new, Flash-less audience. While we're on the topic of Flash, do any of you iOS users miss being able to view Flash content on your iPhone, iPad, etc.?
