T-Mobile offers hardware discount, waived ETF to one Sidekick user

Sidekick owners were disappointed to learn yesterday that their connection to Danger's services would be severed on May 31st, rendering their beloved Hiptops mostly useless. T-Mobile said that they had a plan to make the entire transition an easy one and, although they haven't officially announced details just yet, our friends at TmoNews got hold of a letter sent to a current Sidekick user that sheds some light on the situation. T-Mobile is offering a 50 percent discount on select Samsung handsets when purchased with a two-year agreement through April 5th. If you'd prefer to jump ship to a different carrier, Magenta will be waiving early termination fees between March 31st and May 31st. Finally, T-Mo has put up a page on their site to help current Sidekickers transfer all of their info off of the device.

T-Mo hasn't mentioned when the new Samsung-made Sidekick 4G will arrive besides a vague "spring" launch window, but it seems likely that they'll be launching it in time for current Sidekick users to be able to use their 50 percent discount on the new Android-powered model. What do you all think of T-Mobile's efforts so far? Are they enough to appease those users that are still rocking a Sidekick?
