The Samsung Fascinate recently got a maintenance update to squash some bugs and update some preinstalled apps, but it turns out the the DL09 upgrade introduced a pretty nasty bug, too. Some users have noticed that, when a pattern lock is used on their Fascinate, the ability to make an emergency call without unlocking the phone is gone. The dialer only gets brought up after the phone is unlocked, making the emergency call function useless.
It doesn't look like this bug is affecting every Fascinate owner, but for those that are experiencing it, this is a pretty big issue. I'm sure that the upgrade was tested pretty thoroughly before being pushed out, but it's pretty surprising that such a glaring problem managed to sneak past both Samsung and Verizon. If you're a Fascinate owner, be sure to check your handset to make sure it's not affected by this bug.
