Verizon's DROID brand hasn't seen many new devices as of late, with the DROID Bionic becoming the only handset to sport the moniker at CES. Some of us were a little concerned that this lack of DROID could indicate that the brand was about to give up the ghost, but the folks at Droid-Life are reporting that that's simply not the case. According to the site, DROID Incredible 2, DROID X 2, and DROID 3 are all showing up on internal Verizon timeline's recently. There aren't any specs or release info available for any of the three handsets, but Droid-Life claims that at least one of them will offer a vanilla Android experience. After reviewing when each device's predecessor was released, some believe that we could see the Incredible 2 around April or May, the DROID X 2 in July, and the DROID 3 in August.
Considering how popular all three of those handsets were for Verizon and their respective manufacturers, it shouldn't come as any surprise that there are new versions coming up some time this year. As for specs, I wouldn't be shocked to see upgraded processors, perhaps even some dual-core Tegra 2 love, as well as some extra RAM and storage. I do think that screen sizes will likely remain roughly the same, although Motorola's devices may be upgraded to feature a qHD (960x540) display like the DROID Bionic. Whatever the specs, though, each device offers an experience that's unique from the others, so there'll be plenty of choice when it comes to Verizon Androids in 2011.
