Motorola's XOOM tablet was definitely one of the highlight devices of CES, although some of us hoping for a WiFi-only model of the Honeycomb tablet were left a little disappointed. Today that changed, though, as Maurizio Angelone, Motorola's Latin America GM, confirmed that a WiFi-only version of the XOOM is planned for release in April. There's no indication as to whether that date applies to just to Argentina or if other locations can expect the cellular-less tablet around the same time, too.
Considering that we've seen both cellular and WiFi-only versions of high-profile tablets in the past, it's not terribly surprising that Moto is planning to push out a version of the XOOM for customers that don't want to pay for connectivity every month. I just hope that the WiFi XOOM does end up arriving in April so we don't have to wait months on end for the device like with the WiFi-only Galaxy Tab. How many of you would opt for a WiFi-only XOOM rather than pick up Verizon's model?
