Just a few days ago, we were treated to 12 photos of the HTC Thunderbolt that revealed every inch of the device's outer shell. However, a new leak shows that that may not be what the final hardware looks like. An image of what is reportedly an HTC Thunderbolt dummy unit has appeared online, and it looks almost exactly like the device in the very first photos of the Thunderbolt that emerged way back at the end of August. The differences between the purported dummy unit and the renders from a few days ago include an "8.0 MEGAPIXELS" stencil near the rear camera lens, a missing "4G LTE" stencil above the kickstand, and the "With HTC Sense" logo that has replaced the "With Google" image on the kickstand.
The set of renders that was leaked a few days ago is said to be older and intended for marketing purposes, so it's entirely possible that the look of the Thunderbolt has changed since they were created. I do think that the new dummy unit looks a bit more like something that could actually hit Verizon's shelves, although I'm surprised that they would scrap the LTE logo. Since the Thunderbolt is likely going to be Big Red's first 4G handset, you'd think that they'd like to highlight that. Both devices look pretty handsome, though, and I'll be happy when Verizon and HTC finally announce the Thunderbolt next week. Which look do you prefer?
UPDATE: Looks like this isn't a dummy unit after all, folks. Turns out that this image has been around for some time. Thankfully, we only have to wait one more week before the final retail unit sees the light od day!
